I just finished up this magical trip with Texas Tourism, and I really could not have enjoyed myself more. I wanted to share with you my experience on this trip, and some of my favorite photos.
Firstly, I wanted to tell you that we have spent quite a bit of time in Texas each year for the past four winters! We always find ourselves in this state for good food, two stepping, and/or some live music. So, when Texas approached me for this road trip, I immediately said “YES” in my head. Kevin is in the middle of a huge project with Moment, so he wasn’t able to join me (he said “NO”). 😹 But this trip ended up being so much more than I could have ever imagined, even if it was just me for most of it.
This will be a two part series, as there is so much I want to share that won’t fit into one blog post.
We began this trip in Round Top, Texas for the amazing Round Top Winter Antique Show. We ate at Royers Round Top Cafe and it was INCREDIBLE. Oh, and the pie. I am not a pie girl, but this pie has changed my mind. Not to mention we got to meet the owner of the restaurant and his son who is the new owner. The pride they have for this place was truly moving. Ok, enough about the food. We went on to explore the Antiques. I bought my first turquoise ring at the Big Red Barn Event Center. I will always remember it, the woman’s booth was perfectly curated and she had only two ring options and they were both beautiful. But this one (shown below) I knew was meant for me. I walked around the antique mall a couple times because after we talked about price it was still high, so I had to think about it. But after my second loop I knew, and went back to buy it!
The second day KEVIN CAME and I decided to bring my proper camera. 😂 we went to New Braunfels and had lunch at the Huisache Grill. My, oh, my, it was so so good. I think I could eat the fried brie everyday of my life, and I have never eaten a more flavorful spinach salad (the gorgonzola dressing is top notch). After a more than satisfactory lunch, we wandered around a bit checking out some antique shops.
Then we worked our way to explore Gruene (pronounced Green), we checked out the water and bought a new mug from The Barn.
It was time to check out Gruene Hall. There was an amazing Cajun band playing called Slim Bawb and The Fabulous Stumpgrinders, we hung out for a bit and Kev and I tried to dance…
After that we had a little free time, of which Kev and I grabbed a glass of wine and just enjoyed the weather. It was soooo nice out and we really enjoyed our time here in Gruene.
The third day we went to Jacob’s Well and Wimberley, Texas. We started out the day exploring and staring at Jacob’s Well. It was super freaky and just beautiful, we heard a lot of stories from other people passing that it used to be a secret spot where all the locals jumped in from high rocks! 🙈
After that we grabbed lunch at Ino’z in Wimberley I got me some chicken fried chicken that we felt was well earned after our “hike” to the well. 😹 I dropped Kevin off at home then I came back to explore Wimberley on my own for a bit. It was right as the sun was setting, so I had the most beautiful light, I also made a lot of kitty friends.
That is all for today folks! I hope to have the next part of the series up soon! I hope you enjoyed our little sneak peek into our road trip last week!
