RV Life

Pensacola, FL

December 6, 2016

Ah, a state park. Nothing better. We may not have access to sewer, but for us it is worth it. The scenery, the privacy, and quiet. We will trade that to shower in the shower house, especially because most times the shower pressure/heat is better than our own shower! 😉 But we loved our time here. While we had a lot of work to catch up on, we made sure to get out of the camper for the sunset almost every night. That is such a huge deal for us, so you should be proud! Always working on that work/life balance, which we talk about a bit in this vlog.

We had to drive to Alabama to get wifi because we ran out of data! Blah. When you upload photos and video it happens often, luckily we are now on unlimited. We checked out the beaches, which made us never want to leave. But we headed back after a quick stop to the dog park, because we offered to make dinner for Leigh and Brian of Aluminarium! It was their travel day, and kev thought it would be nice for them to have a meal waiting them! So we set up a little outdoor picnic (Leigh is allergic to our kitties), it was cold, but some candles, and blankets helped it stay cozy!  Oh and margaritas… It is Florida after all! 😉

The next and most exciting day of our trip consisted of hanging out with them for Leigh’s birthday! We went to the Gulf Islands National Seashore and explored that for a while ’til lunchtime! We grabbed lunch at a cute little tropical place called the Islander Food Shack, then headed back to the campground to freshen up before dinner. We headed into Pensacola for dinner, and what an amazing dinner we had. Good company, and good food made it quite a perfect evening.

I got up early the next morning to go the the beach one last time, we didn’t think we would see a pretty beach again for a while so I wanted to soak it all in. We were sad to leave mostly because we love hanging out with Leigh and Brian! But we were getting excited for New Orleans which is one of my top places to visit in the U.S. Also, our Thanksgiving celebration! Enjoy our Pensacola vlog!

Where we went

Big Lagoon State Park

We loved our time here. Great showers, scenic walks to the water, not much of a beach, but lots of wetlands and sand dunes! We love parking our rig next the the lush tropical plants of florida.

Gulf Islands National Seashore

We wish we could have spent more time on this coastline. The birds were amazing, and watching the fisherman on the beach was fascinating. We loved it!

Islander Food Shack

We have heard you have to go here. So we did. And it was ok. Huge bar, I am sure it’s crazy on the weekends and in the evenings! Not really our scene, but we liked the concept of a place between Florida and Alabama!

The Grand Marlin

We LOVED our meal here. Every sip, every nibble. We had the oyster rockafellar which was our first time, and I daresay not our last. SO good. Kev had the blackened red snapper which was the special that evening, and he savored every bite. I had the grouper picatta, and I drool just thinking about it.

We had such a good time. I hope you’re enjoying Florida. We might have you save us a spot. It was 32 degrees when we woke up this morning in TX
